Coláiste Abbain is situated in the village of Adamstown in the heart of Co. Wexford. The project involved demolition and removal of the two old existing school buildings and the construction of a new 3,079m² extension. This was constructed as part single storey and part two storey. The two remaining buildings totalling 871m² have been refurbished with a new link built between them.
The fit out includes teaching areas, staff accomodation and a sports hall.
Ganson were contracted to construct a new two storey GRD 16 classroom school on a greenfield site. Works included site clearance, excavation and installation of foundations, erection of steel, and new floor slab including all services
The school fit out works included general classrooms, special needs unit, specialist rooms, support teaching spaces, administration area, general purpose hall & ancillary accommodation, new site entrance and exit and installation of fitted furniture. Externally, car parking spaces, drop-off and pick-up facilities, bicycle parking, 2 No. ball courts, service yard, external stores, bin store and oil tank storage area were created.
Installation of mechanical and electrical, interior and exterior decoration works and various ancillary and civils works also formed part of the contract.
The project involves the design and construction of a split level Post Primary school consisting of 2/3/4/ storey and connected sports hall and associated developments such as car parking areas, ESB substation and switch room, boiler house/storeroom.
The project scope also takes in the internal courtyard areas; ball courts, traffic circulation areas comprising of a roundabout and new entrance road and associated civils works.
There are structural steel and pre-cast concrete elements to the building. The exteriors of the building are a combination of brick, coloured render and extensive glazing. Facilities on the site such as play areas and sport pitches will be of various finishes and there will be an amount of hard and soft landscaping involved in the project prior to completion. Fencing and boundary treatments will also be covered as part of the project.
Ganson was contracted to build and fit out a new two storey and part single storey 1000 pupil post primary school with associated public park, hard play areas, GAA sized football pitch, access roads, staff parking and covered cycle parking. Located in Dundalk, the school began fit out once the roof structure was completed.
Fit out works included M&E, joinery, painting and decoration, tiling and floor finishes to various areas including science labs, gymnasium, home economics rooms, kitchens and canteen areas.
